Copenhagen rock duo Vinyl Floor have officially released their new album “Balancing Act,” a record that finds the long-running band leaning into the melodic strengths and classic songwriting style that have defined them for nearly two decades. Arriving via Karmanian Records, the album follows 2022’s Funhouse Mirror and marks another confident step in the band’s ever-evolving catalogue.
One of the standout moments on the record is the previously released single “I’m on the Upside,” a vibrant, guitar-driven track that perfectly captures the tone of the album. The song carries a warm retro glow, blending jangling guitars, lively drums, and rich vocal harmonies into something that feels both timeless and fresh. Drummer and co-founder Daniel Pedersen takes on lead vocals for the track, delivering a performance that feels relaxed yet full of character. His voice adds an extra layer of authenticity to the song, giving it the feeling of a personal reflection rather than a polished studio exercise.
Recorded at Studio Möllan in Malmö, Sweden, Balancing Act was produced by Emil Isaksson and Daniel Pedersen, with mixing and mastering handled by Søren Vestergaard at The Shelter. The album’s sound remains rooted in the band’s love of British rock and pop from the 1960s and 70s, but it never feels stuck in the past. Instead, Vinyl Floor balance those influences with modern production and thoughtful arrangements, creating a sound that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.
Across the record, the band’s musicianship shines through. Bassist Jakob Gulbrandt Koldenborg provides a steady and melodic backbone, while guitars from Thomas Charlie Pedersen bring brightness and texture to the songs. On “I’m on the Upside,” additional guitar work from Daniel Hecht — known for his work with The Breakers and Franklin Zoo — adds another layer of energy, helping the track surge forward with a sense of carefree momentum.
