B.U.d! Excites With ‘No More’

Words By Max Jordan.

U.S based R’n’B star B.U.d! is flying the flag for top quality soul with his new release ‘No More’.

I first came across this fresh track having being sent it by his promoter, and I have to say, I have found myself hooked ever since. It is infectious with a vocal charm which is challenging to keep at bay. Vocally, B.U.d! sounds delightful with him providing a performance which is massively piercing. He sings with his heart on his jacket, and he takes a no prisoner approach to songwriting with a message which leaves no room for ambiguity.

Musically, ‘No More’ is exciting, and it has a Prince style vibe popping out of it at times. Nevertheless, there is still plenty of unique qualities which makes it stand out truly on its own with a radiance which many will find hard to fault.

Lock Up Yer Daughters, Girl Afraid Are Here!

Words By Ava Jordan.

Hull indie rockers Girl Afraid are taking no prisoners with their track ‘Dutch Courage’. I am slightly late to the party, but this track needs to get a review. It is on fire, and it bites with frontman ‘Sam Mellors’ singing with genuine conviction and grit which is challenging to keep at bay.

Musically, Indie has never sounded quite as potent with the band smashing through the mix with integrity. They unleash their power here, and the energy oozes out of the track, so much so it nearly kicked me off my chesterfield.

Girl Afraid
Leader Of The Pack, Sam Mellors.

It falls into a post-genre category with the group taking hints from the big hitters in Indie, but they also bring their unique vibe which stands out truly in a distinct light. So, Hull, you lucky bunch! With chaps like these echoing out of the local indie basements, it is clear why they say those who go to Hull never leave. Keep chomping lads, and keep these bangers flowing!

Julia Thomsen Releases ‘Beauty Inside And Out’

Words By Ava Jordan.

Neo-classical is a genre which I am not hugely familiar. However, I know a potent composition when I hear one, and the new release ‘Beauty Inside And Out’ by Julia Thomsen is mesmerising.

Kicking off with a piano melody, Julia instantly gets us reaching for the tissues with its sincere emotion. The piece grows as it advances with a medley of new tones popping to the forefront with a synthesiser hook captivating as it reaches for the culmination.

‘Beauty Inside And Out’ provides plenty of gravitas, and its solemn vibe paradoxically gets the feel-good emotions soaring. Also, the empowering build-up is awe-inspiring. You can take a listen to ‘Beauty Inside And Out’ by Julia Thomsen below.

Le Fil Drops Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

Words By Ava Jordan.

Le Fil returns with a red hot pop track ‘Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is’.

The singer who only recently released ‘Undercover Lover’ hits the sweet spot on this track. It follows a similar vibe to his last number, but it comes in an even more potent fashion. Kicking off the record is an infectous drum hit which captivates from the second it plays. We are then with an unforgettable vocal performance from the London based artist who sings with his heart fastened to his sleeve.

As the track progresses, we hear an elective range of sounds popping into the mix. There is a killer piano lead sitting in the background which reminds me slightly of ‘Elton John’, but yet it stays true to Le Fil, and he proves his distinction with an undeniably catchy chorus.

Near Death Experience To Release ‘Moves’

Words By Ava Jordan.

Near Death Experience do not mess around. They are back following their previous release ‘Conquer’, and they accelerate even faster towards rock stardom.

The group takes influence from a variety of places, and they are ready for the release of one of their biggest rock tracks to date. It is not often that a follow up single comes quite as potent as this one, and I can only help but feel myself gravitating even closer to them with each release.

‘Moves’ is a mover. Vocalist ‘Ian’ talks about a woman who moves him, well the group move me here. So much so, my soles hurt from the constant foot-tapping trance I found myself in. Vocally, top draw, musically, fascinating with a bluesy guitar taking the lead and a rhythm beat and bassline which straps us in firmly.

The track is hitting all the stores on 14th August. You can take a listen to a preview below and also pre-save by clicking here.

Katie Veltri is back with new single ‘Catch Me’. It is a track which hits home with plenty of emotion and it takes us on an unforgettable adventure from the get-go.

It is a song which has a striking melody line which cements itself deep. So much so, the hook sticks like chewy on the bottom of a boot. Kicking off is a firm clap beat which gets the foot-tapping instantly. A divine guitar rhythm also strums out and leads us into the perfect vocal from Katie.

Katie sings about being alone and it provides heaps of sentiment. You can take a listen to ‘Catch Me’ by Katie Veltri below.

Tanaka Makoni Smashes It With ‘Lust’

Words by Louise Sako.

East London female hip hop star Tanaka Makoni mesmerises with her new release ‘Lust’. So much so, I cannot get enough.

The track kicks off with a steady beat which grips from the get-go. I relish the angelic vocal harmony in the prelude section too because it instantly plucks away at the heartstrings.

Once we are out of the intro, Tanaka Makoni greets us with an unforgettable vocal performance with her singing with her heart firmly on her sleeve. She sings with genuine confidence, and it is hard not to get onto her wavelength with her infectious charm shining through like a beacon.

The chorus melody line is hugely poignant. It makes you grip to it with dear life, and Tanaka Makoni proves she is a hip hop heavyweight with her signature sound flying high with each word articulating well.

Victoria Moralez Releases ‘Eyes Off The Prize’

Words by Max Jordon.

Victoria Moralez is a new name to me. I was not aware of her discography before listening to this track, and I am still wondering why I have not come across her sooner. She has a sound which shines like a beacon, and she stands out truly on her own with her mesmerising quality.

Taking us on a journey from the get-go, ‘Eyes Off The Prize’ is a pop gem which ignites the pop flame more profoundly. She takes an innovative approach with her music, and it makes for a refreshing listen. For me, the vocals are flying high with Victoria hitting all the right notes tremendously well.

The highlight in the track is the chorus which truly cements itself deep. It has a contemporary feel but yet also provides a lot of nostalgia from yesteryear for good measure. Overall, it is a top-class performance which I will be keeping close for quite some time.

The Hassan Assassin Set To Release ‘Come Over’

The Hassan Assassin is set to drop his latest single ‘Come Over’. It is a bright track with bold lyricism and a hip hop beat which cements itself deep.

I could not help but get onto the rappers wavelength here on this track. Hassan sings with confidence which is hard to fault and his ability to articulate well resonates with each word hitting home.

The music grips too and he blends contemporary hooks with a nostalgic vibe giving the track plenty of new flavour while also taking the best from yesteryear. Also, it is refreshing to see a hip hop artist delve genuinely into his own space carving a unique sound of his own.

Overall, it is one of the most beautiful hip hop tracks to come out in recent months. As a result, there is just about something for everybody here.

Lime Juice Unleash ‘Quietude’

Words by Ava Jordan.

Lime Juice are back. Their new track ‘Quietude’ comes bigger and bolder than ever before with a melody which will get even your grandpa tapping his foot.

Cleverly, the band combine a contemporary indie sound with good old nostalgia making the mix too for good measure. The track kicks off with a sublime rhythm guitar strumming away, and a steady drum hit. Vocally the singer then greets us with open arms. Taking us on an adventure, the group get their message across very well, and it is difficult not to find yourself gripping onto the record for dear life.

The track builds, and before we know it, we are in with all guns blazing with a chorus which could fill a stadium twice over. But, the excitement does not stop there. Lime Juice shrewdly introduce new sounds into the mix with a guitar lead appearing sharper than serpents tooth.

Musically, the group take no hostages with every one of them adding their own unique touch. You can check out ‘Quietude’ by Lime Juice below.
